Join us as we welcome John W. Street as our speaker this Friday.  Johnny is a retired pilot who most recently worked for Nippon Cargo Airlines, flying routes across the Pacific to Japan and Asia and on to Europe.    Johnny’s flights on the Boeing 747 into South America serve as backdrop for his thrilling novel, The First Officer’s Report, a story of aerial terrorism in the post-9/11 era.

The topic of John’s presentation will cover the amazing work of the international relief organization, Rotaplast International, Inc.  This non-profit organization, originally founded through the efforts of Rotarians in the San Francisco area, is committed to helping children and families worldwide by eliminating the burden of cleft lip or palate, burn scarring, and other deformities.  John experienced the powerful healing powers of this organization firsthand, as a volunteer in Mexico and Guatemala medical missions.

Now forced into the impoverished life of a retiree, Johnny spends some of his time working as a Disaster Action Team volunteer for the American Red Cross.  He has delivered meals in areas of Louisiana devastated by flood.  A fellow Rotarian, he is currently the president-elect of the Girard/Liberty Rotary Club.  He feels that everyone, and especially Rotarians, should learn more about Rotaplast, and this Friday he will tell you why.

The before and pictures below give you a brief glimpse into the remarkable reconstructive work of the multidisciplinary medical teams. Or you can see more at http://rotaplast.org/.
