Weekly Club News Update!

Last week’s meeting covered more about the recent ELC program. Miles Barber and Colleen Noll talked about this year’s conference and several recent ELC graduates from the local high schools were invited to the meeting along with School Administrators. The students shared their overall ELC experience talking about the products they came up with, the friendships they made, and what they felt they learned.

Given the recent disaster from Tropical Cyclone Pam were winds reached 200 mph and left thousands of people without shelter in the islands of Vanuatu, Rotary International has started deploying Shelter Boxes to the region. Our Club purchased a Shelter Box earlier in the year and some members made donations towards the purchase of another box. Thanks to recent long vacations to exotic places by Stewart Cusimano and Harbir Bhatia, they graciously donated their fines toward the purchase of the next Shelter Box. Who knows, maybe this week we will obtain the funds to complete the purchase. So let me know of any finable activates by your fellow members.

After last week’s meeting three new potential members attended Rotary Information and were recommended to the Board for membership. The Board approved their applications and we are now awaiting approval by the Club Members. An e-mail was sent earlier for the members to comment on the applicants. The three applicants are: Jerry Marsalli, Lou Mariani, and Fred Ahlstrom.

This week’s speaker is Linda Lyon. Linda is the executive Director of the March of Dimes. She will provide some insights on the activities of the March of Dimes and maybe offer some background on this historical organization.
