Steve Fisher of the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority gave a presentation on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project that is proposed for sections of El Camino Real from Palo Alto to

Santa Clara. The project proposal has been in the works since 2010 and is entering the engineering and construction phase.

The purpose of the Project is to improve transit product efficiency, cost effectiveness and provide a competitive option to auto travel. The plan calls for dedicated bus lanes as well as some mixed use lanes (bus and auto). Dedicated bus lanes would be set up on the El Camino in Santa Clara. The project is expected to improve ridership along the El Camino and reduce bus transit times.

The project will also improve the aesthetics of the El Camino. Included in this message is an attachment containing the slides presented at the meeting.

Miles Barber was the Emergency Throw Back Thursday Past President for the meeting. Thanks Miles for stepping in on such short notice. I understand he kept his reputation as the king of the presidential fines.

Our Speaker this week is Chris Cavanaugh. Chris will be speaking about his Olympic Journey which has provided him with a platform to help youth, adults, and leaders. Chris is the winner of multiple Olympic Medals in swimming. Chris is also a wealth manager with Morgan Stanley and possess many other skills. We are looking forward to Chris’s talk.
