History

Dr. Tom Pruett, an optometrist, traveled to Mexico in 1980 on a medical mission to provide free medical care to children. While there, he saw that it was not just children who needed care.

To address these needs Tom, a Rotarian, reached out to Rotary and his church. Walter Branson, another Rotarian, joined the cause in 1983.

Now 35 years later, with the help of Rotary clubs, individuals, businesses, medical practices and organizations such as churches, Lion’s clubs, and government entities, The Guerrero clinic has grown and thrived to treat the indigent population of the state of Chihuahua and beyond.

Rotary has been integral in building and sustaining this project. It has been a project of the Rotary clubs of  Districts 5890 (Houston, TX) and 4110 (Mexico) for decades while expanding to District 5810 (Dallas, TX) in the last 10 years.
