DRIPPING SPRINGS COMMUNTY LIBRARY

Marcia Atilano, Director of the Library shared some great news about our community library:

* The DS Community Library was established in 1985 to serve the residents of the greater Dripping Springs area.
* In 1987, the Library achieved 501(c)3 on-profit status, which it retains today.
* In 1998 the library moved into the current location on Sportsplex Drive with over 900 active cardholders.
* In 2005, a 3700 square foot Children's Wing was opened.
* At the end of 2016, there were 8,593 active library cardholders.
* We've outgrown our space; we are in need of more space, meeting rooms and more parking
* June and July is the peak season for library use and we can up to 140 people in the library at one time
* There are always books on the shelf in our library, new and current titles
* Library members (card-carrying) ha access to a huge number of services at no cost.
* Inter-library loan program
* Free use of ancestry.com (in-library only)
* Mother Goose on the Loose - a children's program
* E-books and audio books
* Mango Languages
* Access World News
* Flipster (magazines)
* TexShare Databases  with full text magazines and newspapers
* World Book Online
* Universal Class (continuing ed courses)

The Tourism Board wants to create a Town Square on Mercer street and the library would like to be part of it, however, they may be too slow in developing that plan and the library may have to seek land and facilities elsewhere due to the expansive growth of Dripping Springs and the Library community.
