Today's Secret Service

Our speaker, John F. Roberts, will talk about “Today’s Secret Service”, certainly a very topical subject with all the issues about the performance of the Secret Service being discussed in the media today.

John was raised in the East Bay, a graduate of California High School in San Ramon. He has a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice form Park University in Missouri and a Masters of Public Administration from George Mason University, Fairfax, VA. John served as a U.S. Marine from 1988 to 2000. His jobs included security for the presidential helicopter (Marine One) and a criminal investigator with the USMC Criminal Investigation Division. Awards include the Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Presidential Service Badge/Award for service to President George H.W. Bush.

Mr. Roberts has served with the United States Secret Service from 2000 to present. Assignments include: Washington Field Office, Emergency Preparedness Program, Vice Presidential Protection Division, San Jose Resident Office and San Francisco Field Office. His current assignment is Assistant to the Special Agent in Charge of the San Francisco Field Office – supervisor of Protective Operations.

John is also an Adjunct Faculty Member at West Valley College, Administration of Justice program.
