LIFT-UP:   Thanks to Ron Thom for his usual “hat in hand” for Lift - up.   And apologies for not recognizing him at meeting or enough, for that matter. And we know every dollar collected matters!

GREETERS:

Thanks to Carol Parish and Melissa Gibson for serving as greeters and to Carol for doing our introductions.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:  Past President, Winnie Delliquadre did our “Thought for the Day” and thanks for enlightening us about the lack of published quotes by women  (only 10% are from women) and not for lack of women’s wisdom, right?  To find them: www.Quotabelle.com

ANNIVERSARIES:  We recognized the following Rotarians for their years of membership: Alice Klauzer (21)  Debbie Aragon (19 ) Cam Boyd (16 ) Steve Hitchcock (12) Steve Sehnert (34 – in two clubs)  Thanks for all those good years!

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Crutches4Africa Drive – Rachelle Summers and Ian Engle, Co-Chairs reminded us about the Crutches4Africa Drive May 6, 7 & 8 and passed around sign up sheets to volunteer at the drop off spots during those days.   Volunteers will be put into our Club Runner program, but please give Rachelle or Ian a call if you missed signing up!  Also, please place the posters and flyers all around town.   We are looking forward to an amazing success story this year as we want to make this, of course, the best ever and to make Dave Talbot, Founder of C4A proud!

Day of Caring on May 18th and Community Clean up Day on May 21st.   Tara Weaver reminded us of these two very important volunteer service days.  She will be asking for volunteer sign-ups soon.   And to repeat from last week:  These are opportunities to “do good” in our community, as well as a great way to better get to know your fellow Rotarians!  And kids seem to really enjoy helping with the Clean up Day….so bring them along!

District Assembly:  Ellen brought back a report of an informative and helpful assembly and thanked Holly Rogers and Lynaia South for attending with her…and to Lynaia for providing such a “Wild Life” ride!

Important Dates:  Crutches4Africa Drive – May 6, 7, 8

Day of Caring (with United Way) – May 18

Clean Up Day – May 21

                                Ski Town Classic – June 10 – 11

Flower Barrels – June 14 (no meeting)_

PROGRAM: Ski Town Classic:  Jackie Brown, Chair and some of her committee, Ashley Kane, Steve Sehnert, Tara Weaver and Scott Marr led us through the details of the event to be held June 10 – 11th.    Registration at Alpine Bank, Golf at Catamount, reception at Strings, catering by Steamboat Meat & Seafood Company, golf simulator, Legal Tender, live auction, cash raffle, legendary martini bar generously donated by Central Park Liquor and fun fellowship!   This is such a hugely important fundraising event for our club.   It was successful last year, with several changes in format, and this year look we look forward to an even better event.    The goal is to raise $45,000 and with Jackie again at the helm along with co-chair Glen Traylor, with such a great committee and all the great improvements planned, we will surely reach our goal.    It’s one of those times when we ask 100% of our membership to help – either through sponsorship, raffle donations, attendance and auction purchase or through giving your time.   So please stay tuned and plan on supporting the event in any way you are able.

GOOD NEWSThank you to Board Member, Eric Rabesa for doing Good News.  So many wonderful (and challenging) vacation and stay-cation stories.   Glad all back safe and sound.

See you next week for a presentation by Paul Hebert about our global project with the Kirkau School in Kenya.

Respectfully submitted,

Ellen Kendall, Club President
