Updates from our Weekly Meeting (February 26, 2016)

Last Friday, we had the wonderful opportunity to celebrate Rotary International's 111th Birthday!  Before we kicked off our meeting, we called all of our Past Presidents to the front of the room to serenade us with a beautiful rendition of Happy Birthday!  To learn more about the events that took place around the world on February 23rd, visit Rotary International's website.

Rick Thielen was our Fine Master for the week and gave us a brief background on how he became a "professional volunteer".  Rick had spent many years working for the City of Toledo and then the City of Perrysburg before retiring.  He, and his incredibly supportive wife Deb, have made a huge impact in the City by helping to support several local non-profits and volunteering to be the Chair on several projects, including our very own Annual Charity Auction.  After his vocational, Rick gave us a very informative and educational quiz on Greyhound Dogs.

Next, we welcomed the Deb Mauk and several of the Bicentennial Committee members/volunteers to give us a detailed presentation on the upcoming events surrounding the City of Perrysburg's Bicentennial.  Below is a list of events that will be celebrated throughout the city starting in April.

A Message from the Fellowship Committee

Holiday Party, Rotary After Hours, Mud Hens, Fall Fellowship, Spring Symphony Event...these are just a few examples of fellowship activities the club has held in the last few years. It’s time to work out a plan for the rest of this year and next year’s activities and we need your help!

Would you like to join the Fellowship committee to be a part of the decision making for upcoming events? If so, please send an email to Alison Frye (afrye@signaturebankna.com) and save the date of March 18, 2016 for a quick meeting before Rotary.

Still looking to cook up some fun with District 6600?

It is with great excitement that District 6600 has decided to put together a book celebrating health and wellness.  The book will be a compilation of recipes, stories and experiences of Rotarians throughout the district.  The book will be titled “Rotatouille! Healthy Eating and Happy Giving” and will possibly available for sale by July, with proceeds benefiting The Rotary Foundation.

If you are interested in submitting a recipe and story, a submission form can be found here.  Submission forms can be emailed to Mary Pietras at mary.pietras@beyondbasicshc.com or mailed to her at 3130 Central Park West, Toledo, OH 43617.  Additionally, Rotarians can opt to submit their recipes online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/3MWL99J.  Pictures should be included with the submissions, when possible, to bring even more appeal to the recipes.  The last day to submit recipes is April 1.
