I think our focus this year is fitting--"Engage Rotary, Change Lives." In the coming weeks you will see some of our priorities fall in place, but for the sake of brevity it comes down to two items that are at the core of being a Rotarian:  membership retention/recruitment and the Rotary Foundation.

My goal is to increase member ENGAGEMENT.  We will focus on developing committees based on helping members find the part of Rotary that appeals to them the most. This ENGAGEMENT will lead to more active members, which will lead to better retention.  And when potential members see how much good we do and how much fun we have, we will also INCREASE RECRUITMENT!

The Rotary Foundation should be a priority for all Rotarians.  The Foundation isn't some abstract concept that helps people around the world, it is a tangible asset that we leverage in our community.  According to our District Governor and club historian Rich Kaye, over the history of our club, our contributions to the Rotary Foundation have resulted in RCKH being able to do:

  • 20 international matching grant projects in four different countries with a total grant value of $480,659
  • 15 local humanitarian projects for agencies like Families in Crisis, the Killeen Free Clinic, the Killeen Food Care Center and Communities in Schools having a total project value of $73,587.

The money we give this year will come back to us in the years to come, so I challenge each of you to participate in our club's matching drives and contribute this year. Let's make DG Kaye's club #1 this year, not only in total giving, but in per capita AND in making ours a 100% Paul Harris Fellow club!
