The Pride of Workmanship Awards
About the awards:
The Pride of Workmanship awards were instigated in 1975 by the Rotary Club of Pennant Hills in Australia, and spread through the Rotary Clubs throughout the world. The Pride of Workmanship Program enables managers in our society to help employees achieve the goal of job satisfaction, and publicly recognize them for their efforts. The objective of the program is to provide employers with an opportunity to recognize employees who display the qualities worthy of an Award, and epitomise the Pride of Workmanship theme which is "Do it once- do it well". This then encourages favourable employer/employee relationships and a sense of community pride in individual achievement. It is designed to acknowledge any member of our community, irrespective of age or vocation, who displays these outstanding qualities in terms of approach, dedication, attitude and commitment to service. It should be noted that this is not designed to select “An Employee of the Year”, but to recognise the many contributions made by employees which can go unrecognised in the community.
26th PRIDE OF WORKMANSHIP AWARDS
The Port Lincoln Rotary Club, Pride of Workmanship Awards were held on Tuesday the 10thMay and presented Certificates to 11 awardees from 9 local employers. The awardees were nominated for service above and beyond the norm and their qualities were read to the 110 members and guests who attended the evening awards ceremony.
The guest speaker John Lynch CEO of the Royal Flying Doctor Service central division likened the awardees dedication to their respective jobs to the dedication that all of the people who make up the RFDS have to that organisation.
The RFDS make an average of 11 flights per day just to the Eyre Peninsula, the organisation has some 64 aircraft Australia wide.
