We had an excellent Coffee Conversation last week at the White Picket Café with Graham Smith, Barry, John W, Rob, Alison and Paul, and I. A lot of the discussion was about our latest Timor Leste water project that we will be seeking a Global Grant for. Rob, John W and our former member Rob Brooke are booked to attend a tour of the Timor Leste area this May with a contingent of Rotarians from the Discovery Coast Rotary Club in D9560.
Our thoughts are with Don who is still on the road to recovery but getting stronger every day, and Alison who will be focusing on her health needs for a while. We wish them both well.
Last Saturday, we virtually filled the Fibbonacci Café space with Cuppa Conversation guests and Rotarians. I counted 39 migrants who attended, but that was early in the morning, and there may have been more that joined in later. That number plus our 10 Rotarians spread throughout the attendees and we had a very successful event of networking, chatting, and helping people with their queries. Our thanks to Lili for her organisation of this event and the volunteer Rotarians who came. It was an outstanding morning and very worthwhile Club project.
On Monday night, I attended the Adelaide City Rotaract Club in lieu of Alison, and lobbed up on the night of the official visit of DG Craig Dowling. It was a full night as DG Craig detailed Rotaract’s rights and responsibilities of being an equal partner with Rotary, and spruiking the Rotary Conference and “Rotary Says No to Domestic Violence” amongst other subjects. President Stef and Rotaractor Tyson then proceeded to kick off the first of a six meeting speaker series on “Personal & Professional Development”. Each fortnight, different speakers have been invited to present on a wealth of topics to achieve “audacious goals”.
I look forward to seeing you all at the Kent Town Hotel this coming Thursday at 6pm and hear our guest speaker Patricia Rios from the Hispanic Women’s Association of SA, who will be introduced by Lili.
Complementing our recent Clare Riesling, we’re pleased to offer an excellent McLaren Vale Grenache that’s half price at just $150.00 per case ($12.50/bottle).
Grenache is now available in half a dozen at the price of $75.00.
Give your fiends and family an excellent deal, while helping to fund our local and overseas Rotary service work. among other things, we’re building water supplies in Timor Lesté, rescuing Afghans fleeing the Taliban and making recent Oz migrants quickly feel welcome.
The wine is ready for collection, so please contact me or Rob by email or phone below to order it.
For the benefit of members, we will aim to give the Duty Roster a few weeks ahead - see below.
