The International Committee had a very productive zoom meeting with Mersu and Bete (shown in photo) last night regarding the two potential water projects in Timor Leste that our Club has been costing and planning for. In May, three of our Rotarians – John W, Kirsti and Rob - will be visiting Timor Leste with a larger contingent of Rotarians from northern Australian Rotary Clubs to view various projects around the island nation. After speaking with Kirsti about a smaller project initiated by D9560, our Club also promised $200 towards kit bags filled with writing materials for some of the local schools.
If you have an interest in submitting an Expression of Interest to be appointed as a Rotary Community Leader of a Rotary Community Group (in the Regionalisation Pilot), please read through your emails as you would have received one from District Governor Craig Dowling outlining the procedures to apply. This would be a very fulfilling role for those interested in the future of Rotary’s growth and development.
Our next Bunnings BBQ will be held on Easter Saturday 30 March. If those who work during the business week (when we are usually rostered for a Bunnings BBQ day) could let Di know that they are happy to volunteer for this day, that would provide a rest for some of the usual 10 people who cook and serve on a weekday BBQ. It’s due to be low-20s temperatures on the day.
Our Fred's van team enjoying Gelato donated and served by Felicita. A treat for the companions and us after a hot past week.
I look forward to seeing you at the White Picket Café this coming Thursday.
Best wishes and have a wonderful week. Yvette, President.

A lady goes to the bar on a cruise ship and orders a Scotch with two drops of water.
As the bartender gives her the drink she says, "I'm on this cruise to celebrate my 80th birthday and it's today..." The bartender says, "Well, since it's your birthday, I'll buy you a drink. In fact, this one is on me."
As the woman finishes her drink, the woman to her right says, "I would like to buy you a drink, too." The old woman says, "Thank you. Bartender, I want a Scotch with two drops of water." "Coming up"' says the bartender.
As she finishes that drink, the man to her left says, "I would like to buy you one, too." The old woman says, "Thank you. Bartender, I want another Scotch with two drops of water." "Coming right up,' the bartender says.
As he gives her the drink, he says, "Ma'am, I'm dying of curiosity. Why the Scotch with only two drops of water?"
The old woman replies, "Sonny, when you're my age, you've learned how to hold your liquor. Holding your water, however, is a whole other issue."
