The Ken

11/8/2021

Fine Master: Brandon Blatz

Table Attendance & Split Club: Dick Hanaburgh

Invocation: Tim Glor

The Ken: Donna DiFrancesco

The small attended meeting was called to order by President Dick at 12:24 p.m., followed by the Pledge. Tim led us in prayer.

President Dick asked for any announcements. Brandon, for Larry Coon, reminded everyone about Honar Ali’s talk “Lessons from a 71 Day solo bike trek and how it changed by life”, which will be on Wednesday November 10 from 6-7 p.m. in UB Clemons Hall Rm 120.  He would like some members to attend in support of Honar. I’m sure this will be a great follow up to the talk he presented to our club. We will also invite him back to speak at a club meeting for part 2 (and maybe part 3)! Steve Blass announced that the Knights of Columbus, along with the Kenmore FD will hold their 24th annual Christmas Bash for Kids, this Sunday November 14 from 1-5 p.m. There will be food, beverages, football, raffles and children’s crafts. Admission is an unwrapped $15 toy and a roll of gift wrap. All proceeds will go to local families in need. Please try to attend if you are able! Cathy passed out fliers for the Ken-Ton Holiday Gala 2021 to be held on Tuesday, December 7th at Park Country Club. PLEASE RSVP to her by November 17.

Split club of $7.50 was won by Ron. He was the last member to buy tickets. It pays to wait until the end! The Ace of Spades pot is up to $226 and Chuck picked the Jack of Spades. More money and 1 less card for next week!

Fine master Brandon asked for confessions. Tim Glor confessed he left half his wrap from lunch last week on the table and learned that Larry tried to hunt him down to make sure he took it home. He’s making sure he doesn’t forget it this week, because Larry wasn’t there to help out. Mike Ford went golfing with his son. Mike broke 90 (whatever that means). President Dick put in $20 because there was no time for fines last week. Thanks, Dick!

Brandon quizzed us on Veteran’s Day trivia, some of which was: 71% of veteran’s voted in the 2008 election, the flower associated with Veteran’s Day is the red poppy, and November 11, 1954 officially became known as Veteran’s Day, with 48 stars on the American Flag. He was able to raise a few bucks!

I’d like to make a personal shout out to Jeff Markarian, who takes my typed notes and turns them into The Ken. Thank you for all your help, Jeff. It’s greatly appreciated!

Meeting was adjourned as there was no speaker, and we all enjoyed lunch and friendship!
