We started our meeting today with the Pledge. Kathy led us in a fine rendition of “God Bless America” Rick Graham gave our invocation. This is Matt’s 3rd visit and has put in his application for membership.
Bob Artist, our district’s 7090 incoming President, advertised the theme for this year’s district Conference will be a Cruise through the Caribbean. For details, go to www.rotary7090.org. Bob also has happy socks that his club is selling all profits will go to the Polio program.
Announcements: Audrey will have a signup sheet for you to use if you can help out the night of our Wine Event. Riviera Has helpers. Also, we have 273 tickets sold. It looks like this will be a fun event. Audrey also has Kenmore West, Buffalo Olmstead Park and the City of Buffalo Alliance helping with the spring cleanup project in Black Rock 5/21 from 9:30 – 12:00. I’ll get more details out as I get them. Mike Ford was having a new member happy hour at Jovis the other day. I will report as to it’s success. Larry asked for our help with an Interact student whose apartment burned down and lost everything. Gift cards and cash would be great.
Dick won the split club and Tim lost the Ace. Paul C has a bottle of Johnny Walker blue donated by the Ahrens for our Wine Event. What a great gesture. Thanks Pat and Brian.
Mike Ford took over as fine master. I confessed to being in Hilton Head. Scott Swan made Audrey pay a fine because his emails were being hawked by the competition. Donna celebrated 25 years at Rainbow. Sue J’s oldest son is graduating from Baldwin Wallace and is in the Lacrosse play offs. Sue will keep us up to date on their progress. We were running out of time but Mike was able to raise a little money on football draft questions.
Audrey introduced our speaker Jeff Bagel. It was a real treat today to have Jeff speak to us. Jeff is a principal with eAdvancement Consulting where he provides high quality counsel that helps non-for-profit organizations. He is the author of the 2017 Best Seller “Annual Fund Raising Plans Made Simple”. Jeff gave us some guidance on contributing to organizations. He suggest searching for the company on guidstar.com. You are able to see the P & L of company and the site will tell you how they use the money donated.
Great program.
Meeting adjourned.
