Western Colorado Suicide Prevention Foundation

Intro:  Rotarian Herb Bacon

Topic:  Unfortunately, Colorado ranks among the highest in U.S. for suicides per capita and Mesa County ranks as one of the highest counties in the State.  Today, Martha Graf will introduce to our Club the work of the Western Colorado Suicide Prevention Foundation.  This organization has several programs, initiatives and partnerships trying to address this concerning issue that haunts our community.

Bio:  After attending Middlebury College in Vermont, Martha earned a Masters from the University of California at Berkeley. In 1999, after stops in California and on the Front Range, the Graf’s moved to Mesa County where Martha led Kids Voting as the Executive Director.  Martha is now the Executive Director of the Western Colorado Suicide Prevention Foundation; using her executive level administration, fundraising and networking experience to grow the reach and impact of the organization.  She is constantly amazed by the work that is done in the Grand Junction community through the partnerships between nonprofits and businesses, and is grateful for and humbled by the efforts of so many who contribute to supporting those in need, every single day.
