This week's speaker is Steve Witthoeft, Board Member of The Rotary Vocational Fund of Arizona (TRVFA). Steve is also chair of the District's Vocational Committee and past President of the Rotary Club of Oro Valley. TRVFA is state-wide and gives one-time $2,000 grants to students who are attending vocational schools or programs. 80% of their funding comes from the Arizona Tax Credit program, much of it donated by Rotarians. The mission of TRVFA is "to ensure a revenue stream that will continuously fund vocational education grants requested by struggling Arizona residents who demonstrate the desire and will to enable themselves to thrive. They create lasting change by allowing individuals to lift themselves out of poverty and contribute to their communities". Steve will share ways our club can get involved in providing scholarships to students in the local community. He will also share details about the new District 5500 Vocational Committee.
