Club Meeting: September 21, 2023
President John opened the meeting on “National Talk like a Pirate Day” with trivia about pirates. Kristi, Tim, Dan, and Ken, won prizes for their pirate knowledge.
Wanda shared an inspiring history of the National Day of Peace: Started by a Rotarian in early 60’s to convene international students for a peace council. In the 1980's, the United Nations declared as a National Day of Peace. She shared a video reminding us that “Peace Begins with Me”.
Dan Chambers served as Sargent at Arms, introducing our guest: Kari Erickson from Colorado.
Announcements
- District Conference registration is open. It’s $25 for registration and more for meals. If you go to the meals, there are excellent keynote speakers. It is so worth it. We have a booth (Doug) and have been asked to do a breakout session presentation on Corazon (Dan).
- Monster Bash tickets are on sale. 60 seats have been purchased so we are 1/3 the way to our goal of 180. Time to buy your tickets now and get your costumes ready, Dan gave us a sneak peek the categories and great prizes
- Hygiene items for IMPACT are still needed. We’ll continue to have collection at every meeting.

Doug introduced Speaker: Ray Naylor
- Ray Naylor, gave an informative review of Rotary International's involvement in promoting peace. He talked about what being a PeaceBuilder Club means for our club, and the genesis of the Rotary E-Club of World Peace. Ray told us about the three Rotarian driven “International Peace Conferences” that gave rise to the E-Club. Ray is a Member the Rotary P club of world peace 2015 IPC International Peace Conference. He answered several questions from the group.
