Lute Olson accepting the 1997 NCAA Men's Basketball Trophy

For the past few days, the life of Lute Olson has dominated both the local and national news. Robert Luther "Lute" Olson was an American basketball coach, who was inducted into both the Basketball Hall of Fame and the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. He was the head coach of the University of Arizona's men's team for 25 years, and completely turned around he men's basketball program. While most of us know Lute's basketball records, there is much more to this great man that might be some of his best kept secrets.

For many years, Lute Olson worked with the Rotary Club of SaddleBrooke to raise money for programs and scholarships for area children and youth. Who can count how many lives were touched or maybe changed because Lute helped raise funds at the Fore For Kids Charity Golf Tournament. For his help with raising money for scholarships and programs for children and youth, The Rotary Club of SaddleBrooke awarded Lute a Paul Harris Fellow. He was also an Honorary Member of the club.

Lute Olson touched that lives of so many.  Through his work as both a coach and a fundraiser, Lute made such a difference.  The Rotary Club of SaddleBrooke is honored to be a part of his legacy. Thank you, Lute.  You helped us make such a difference!
