Why I Decided to Become a Lawyer

     Benjamin N. Lawrance was the President of the Rotary Club of Tucson Sunrise for Rotary Year 2021-2022.

     He is a Professor of History at the University of Arizona and has published twenty books on a range of topics including slavery, human trafficking, and asylum and refugee issues. He is about to graduate with his J.D. from the James E Rogers College of Law.

     Originally from the UK, he grew up in Australia, completed college in the UK, and earned his PhD at Stanford University.

     He became a US citizen in 2012. He, and his husband, Wilson Silva, an Associate Professor of linguistics, moved to Tucson in 2018.
