Our RYE student Olivia Barnes attends final briefing

With the 20 January 2017 departure date for Switzerland fast approaching, Olivia Barnes and the other four students from District 9250 attended a final briefing at Strathalbyn High School on Saturday 3rd December 2016.

The gathering was a last chance opportunity for all to ensure that they all understood the importance of the honour and privilege the students have to broaden their education and be ambassadors for Rotary, their supporting Clubs, their State and Country. Each student was presented with the trip blazer, hoodie and backpack and also their business cards and a warm beanie lovingly knitted for each by RYE District Coordinator Helen Gooley.

Having just completed Year 11 and two Year 12 exams, Olivia is now allowing the excitement of her upcoming 12 months in Switzerland to become a reality. Supported by her father Phil Barnes and Club counsellor Allen Stanley, Olivia was first cab of the rank to tell the gathering about her preparations to date and her aspirations for the trip.

We look forward to following Olivia's adventure through 2017 and her safe return in January 2018.
