Join your Rotary friends at Jill's Place for the best steaks, chops, chicken, fish, burgers & cocktails at this welcoming restaurant, with fireplace and warm welcome from Jill. Jill’s place is a locals spot with an interesting history. The location was once Shalhoob Meat Company back in 1973. His daughter Jill took over the store in 1987 and started a deli & catering Company, then a restaurant and soon became Jill’s Place, the butchers daughter! This is Santa Barbara’s version of Cheers.
Did I mention an extensive Bar & great happy hour selection. Swing on by for a fun evening.

Luz Maria Ortiz is seeking club members to participate in a project with the Rotary Club of Celaya Nat-Tha-Hi. A SEE International cataract surgical clinic will be held in Celaya, Mexico on April 26-27. Volunteer Rotarians will perform various activities such as check-in patients, visit with families of patients, assist nursing staff with supplies and pre-operative preparations, and assist surgical staff with patients. Additionally, Celaya Nat-Tha-Hi Rotary will be celebrating its 33rd anniversary and would like to celebrate with Sunrise Rotarians. Flights will be made into Leon (Bajio Airport) and transportation and home hosting will be provided by the local Rotarians.
Doing a service visit abroad can be one of the most memorable experiences you can have as a Rotarian. If interested, contact Luz Maria Ortiz so she may begin coordinating lodging and transportation.
Surgical Eye Expeditions (SEE) International, a non-profit humanitarian organization that provides medical, surgical and educational services, provided volunteer ophthalmic surgeons for the two-day clinic.
The Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise has a long and successful relationship with the Rotary Club of Celaya Nat-Tha-Hi and SEE International collaborating on cataract surgery missions for over 25 years.

Saturday, May 4, from 8:00 a.m. to noon
SB Harbor Department
Operation Clean Sweep
SB Harbor
A group of divers and dockside volunteers work together to clean items that have fallen into the harbor water. They typically pull up a couple tons of debris and miscellaneous items. Last year the event was cancelled due to rain runoff making the harbor water cloudy, so there will be twice as much stuff to haul up this year! It’s a dirty event, but definitely a very fun one to participate in. We had several Club members participate two years ago and we all found it to be fun and exciting.
The event will start with a safety briefing at 8:00 a.m., followed by the cleanup, then lunch will be provided to volunteers at 11:30 a.m.
Anyone is interested in volunteering, they can use the following link to sign up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0B48A8A72FA5F9C34-48657374-2024#/

May 04, 2024 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Join Kirk and Jann Greene for another fun bike ride. You can ride your own bike (traditional or electric assist) — or rent an electric assist bike from Cal Coast Adventures. They open at 9:00 a.m. — we will plan on meeting at the Dolphin Fountain at Stearns Wharf at 10:00 a.m. sharp and take a ride down Cabrillo Blvd, through Montecito, to Summerland, and hopefully down to Carpinteria where we’ll stop for coffee and nice ocean views (like the picture shown). Folks who want a shorter ride can decide to stop in Summerland and head back — but remember, if you have an e-bike, you’ll have some “assistance”.
There are two important steps to take if you want to join this event: 1. RSVP to kirk@suninsb.com to let us know you’ll be attending the event. 2. Contact Cal Coast Adventures to reserve your bike. Phone (805) 628-2444 or online at www.calcoastadventures.com. Make your reservations right away as availability of e-Bikes is limited.
Questions? Email kirk@suninsb.com. |
