A very important training opportunity is quickly approaching!  It is the District Training Assembly scheduled for Saturday, March 18, 2017 in BakersfieldOR Saturday, April 1, 2017, in Oxnard, from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm.  Here is the important information about the District Training Assembly:
  • Who is the training for?  The training is primarily designed for incoming club officers and board members including current club presidents and some incoming committee chairs.  All Rotarians are welcome!
  • The training is great for NEW Rotarians who want to learn more about Rotary.
  • Do I need to go to both Bakersfield and Oxnard?  No.  Only register for one training. The same program will be offered in both places.  Club members do not all have to attend the same training.
  • What is the cost?  Registration is FREE and is being done online this year (link is below).
  • What are the Training Topics?  There will be two break-out sessions offered at the training. The first session (two hours long) offers various classes according to the attendee's club role in 2017-18.  For example, your incoming club treasurer should attend the Treasurer Training class; your incoming club secretary should attend the Secretary Training class, etc.  The second session (one hour long) offers a variety of topics that attendees can sign up for according to what they are interested in. A list of the training topics for each session is attached to this email.
  • When do I need to arrive?  Check in and continental breakfast will be from 8:00 am to 9:00 am.  The training will start at 9:00 am with a half-hour plenary session.  Your first break-out session will begin at 9:30 am.
  • Do I need to register in advance or can I just show up?  You need to register in advance so we know how much food to order.  Each person who is attending must register separately. The registration link is below.
  • What about PRLS (Practical Relevant Leadership Skills) Training?  Great news on the PRLS front!  We will be offering two Introduction to PRLS sessions at each District Assembly.  The first one will be during the two-hour training session from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.  This is a great option for club members who won’t be holding a club leadership role in 2017-18, but who would like to come to the Training Assembly to learn more about Rotary.  The second Introduction to PRLS session will be immediately following the assembly, from 12:45 pm to 2:45 pm. Lunch will be served at no cost.  Each Introduction to PRLS session will be limited to the first 50 people to sign up.
