Major League Baseball umpire

Hal Harrison Gibson III, known as Tripp Gibson, is a Major League Baseball umpire who wears uniform number 73. Tripp began his professional baseball career in 2006 after completing Harry Wendelstedt School for Umpires and PBUC Academy. He spent 10 years working the minor league system, being promoted from Single A, Double A, and Triple A. During the 2012 season, Tripp earned a MLB number where he was eligible and worked several MLB games. He was promoted to full-time MLB Umpire staff in January of 2015.

Tripp now resides in Marysville, WA with his family where he spends time in the off-season working on his golf and archery skills. He actively fund raises for the MLB Umpire official charity, Umps Care, where they tour Children’s Hospitals around the US throughout the season and do on-the-field visits with many families.
