The Effort to Eradicate Polio Continues - The Fight is Not Yet Over

World Polio Day is observed on October 24. This observance was established by nongovernmental organization Rotary International in order to commemorate the birth of Jonas Salk, the developer of a vaccine against polio.  Rotary in partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have led the effort to eradicate this terrible disease.  We are proud to share that there are only 30 cases currently worldwide.  The fight continues and until polio is eliminated - for two full years worldwide - children remain threatened.  Every gift to Rotary International will be matched 100% by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation - that's the commitment we share in this international effort.
