He will share with us his life, his dreams and what it took for him to become a great leader.
We have the distinct pleasure of having Todd Hunt, President of the Glendale Kiwanis, speak to us at our April 9th meeting. Todd will be sharing with us information about the Kiwanis signature projects.
March 12th meeting - RYLA
Elyse joined the El Segundo Rotary in 1988, the first woman member of the club. She has served as president twice, also being the 1st woman president.
She currently serves as the Youth Service Chair and has been the club liaison to their Interact club for 19 years. Elyse has also been attending RYLA for 19 years and has been the co-chair for at least 12 years.
Elyse also serves as the El Segundo Chamber of Commerce president for a 2nd term.
Elyse is the owner of Industrial Lock and Security, a full service locksmith company in El Segundo and has owned the company for 33 years. Industrial Lock and Security has a storefront location and 5 mobile service vehicles. The company recently re-keyed the Queen Mary (1047 keyholes) and are soon to re-key all the locks at the Academy of Motion Pictures and the Glendale Memorial Hospital. The company has 10 employees.
Elyse has been married for 13 years to a man she met through the Rotary bowling league. He is in the South Bay Torrance Club.
Elyse has 7 grandkids, and has never been pregnant?
Colonel Sumner is the commander of the 146th Medical Group, 146th Airlift Wing, located at Channel Islands Air National Guard Station, Port Hueneme, Calif. She has been a member of the California National Guard since 1981 and received an Associate’s Degree as a Registered Nurse in 1986 from Glendale Community College. Her career with the Air National Guard has been devoted to the field of medicine and aeromedical evacuation. Colonel Sumner assumed command of the 146th Medical Group on December 1, 2007.
Charles Shumate will speak to us regarding the GCC Veterans' Center.
Located in AA-2, the Veterans’ Resource Center is a workspace as well as a resource for employment, scholarships, workshops on campus, housing, medical and off campus veteran programs. The center provides peer-to-peer support and mentoring, education counseling and tutoring for veterans who need help with their classes.
The center also provides services for the veterans’ dependents, which includes the husband, wife and/or children
