Bio on Paul Linza, Volunteer and Speaker for ACT High School CPR and AED Program
Paul Linza
As a volunteer Teacher Trainer for the ACT Program in schools: "I remember the first time that I was asked to teach the ACT High School and AED Program. I went over my material several times. Thinking that I was about to go into a class room full of instructors themselves and that I better be perfect. As the class got underway and I had completed one of the lectures, I realized that the teachers had given me their undivided attention.
Then as we went into the practical hands-on part of the workshop, I could now clearly see that thanks to the ACT program, the teachers and I were about to embark on a historical moment in our lives where someday we would surely save someone’s life.
At the end of the day as I had finished my closing remarks and the class gave me a round of applause and they all came up to shake my hand, I knew that they were empowered, especially when one of the teachers said to me “I can’t wait to go back and teach this program to my students."
I was now hooked and wanted to go to every school that I could to bring this program to them.”
As a paramedic: I can tell you unequivocally that as we are responding to an emergency, I am inspired when my computer dispatch screen in the ambulance reads..."The next door neighbours or family’s daughter/son knows how to do CPR and has started CPR"... I now know that we have a chance of having a positive outcome. And I remain mesmerized on the screen waiting for the next update that says...“They have a pulse!"

My name is Beverly Walker and I work in the Volunteer Resources Department for the City of Surrey. I am getting in touch with great news. This year’s Surrey International Children’s Festival will have, for the first time, group volunteer recruitment.
Group volunteer recruitment allows a group of people (students, community members, Rotarians, teams, etc) to all volunteer together with one registered volunteer acting as a designate on their behalf. This person can be you! The designate has to complete the City of Surrey Volunteer Application process to be approved for a group scheduling opportunity. One of your club members may already be an approved City of Surrey Volunteer! This member can act as your group designate and register on your behalf for the activity of your choice.
As all of you have a connection to supporting young people in the City of Surrey, I am inviting you to consider participating in group volunteer recruitment this year. This is a great opportunity for your members to connect with our community be a part of this wonderful annual arts and culture event. |
