Rotary Club of Port Moody, March 25th, 2015

Announcements:

Trudy reminded us about the District Assembly on April ll.  Excellent training for Avenues of Service Chairs.  Contact Trudy if you would like to go.

Mike Poznanski told us about the Rotary Leadership Institute.  It is composed of three sessions, which must be taken in order.  The Club pays, so GO!

Al Sternegaard talked about the May 20th Tour of Red Truck Brewery.  He suggests we carpool.  It starts at 6:30 pm.

Patti introduced our outgoing exchange student, Sylvia.  She is going to France.  She will do Grade 10 there, and plans to take her violin.  Have a great time, Sylvia!

Lucy reminds us about the Heritage Mountain cleanup.  Meet at Gallagher’s at 9:30 am on April 12th.

Don Klassen has to resign his membership in the Club.  Sad.  We will miss you, Don.

We have lost our dear John Dalton.  The funeral was last Friday.

Peter gave us an update on the Hockey Pool.  Linda Balzer is 1st!

Search for the Perfect Pint is going well.  Get those tickets sold! (and turn in the money)

Linda heard of a Happy Dollar twist when she did a makeup in AZ.  The idea is that if your number is drawn, you win $1.00 regardless if you pick the card.  Club Board will discuss.

Dan reminded us about Pie Day at the Manor.  This Friday Dan Dunlop will take care of this.

Trudy talked about receiving 30 thank-you letters from attendees at Patti’s Youth Summit.

Special Event:  Lois Sharpe, from the Port Moody Arts Center, was brought into the club.  Welcome, Lois!

In lieu of a Guest Speaker, we enjoyed a video from the last District Conference, when Polio Survivor Joan Toome spoke.  Unfortunately, we ran out of time before the end of the presentation.  President Allan promised we could finish it at another meeting.  Let’s hold him to it!
