Isabella introduced our two guest speakers, both have businesses in Newport Village.

Alfred Lam is the owner of Vigour Health and Beauty.  He gave us some background on his life and the reason why he decided to star into the new venture of selling health supplements.   A friend persuaded him to take a chance and start a new business venture.  Part way into the process his mother was diagnosed with liver cancer and given very little time to live.  The doctors had said that there was nothing more to be done and when it got to the very end of her expected life she was moved to a hospice, unable to eat because of swollen organs he decided to try giving his mother some health supplements, the doctor said she would not make it past a week so he started his mother on a treatment.  Two weeks later she walked out of the hospice and had another three months of good living before her cancer finally took her.   Shortly after that Alfred was himself diagnosed with liver cancer.  Because he is aware of his body he knew something was wrong so he underwent tests and happily it was caught early so he followed a regime of supplements and today is well on the road to recovery and looking very healthy.  Alfred invites everyone to visit his store and learn how supplements can enhance their health and well being.

Our second guest was Dr. Gary Barone who has been operating his Chiropractic practice in the village for the past 15 years.  His father in law is a Rotarian in Australia and his pet project for his club was a "Man shed", the built a small shed, stocked it with tools and equipment and it is there for any retired men who like to flex their muscles in the field of handiwork with tools to mend, create and build, it is very well used.  For the past 8 years Gary has volunteered at the Iron Man events working with the athletes to maintain their health and fitness before, during and after the events.  He has two diplomas in sports injuries.

Gary noticed that his patients come to him when they are in pain and need immediate help and then do not come back until the injury comes back and they come back time and time again with the same injuries.  He has invested in equipment that can provide him with detailed information about the condition of the body and based on the information received he can prepare a detailed programe of maintenance for his patients so that they can continue to maintain good physical health.
Many things create injuries to the body, not just physical accident, stress plays a huge factor to bodily injury, this can be relieved with chiropractic care.  Gary offered to do a full body evaluation for anyone who signed up on the day and paid 25.00 for the evaluation.  He would donate all the monies to charity.  Some people did sign up so we will look forward to hearing how that goes for everyone.

                             Isabella thanked both speakers.

Bill Lawrie's ticket was pulled in the 50/50 and he won half of the day's pot.
