6 of 52. August is Membership and Extension Month How do we invite people to join Rotary? How do we meet our "plus one" goal for the year? Growth is an important part of any organization. "If you're not growing you're dying" is an adage used by many. Just try entering it into Google and you will see what I mean! But it's not just the numbers. We can increase our numbers by inviting people to become members who do not share the values of the club and we can look good. But will their commitment to Rotary show in their attendance and involvement in the programs and projects we are committed to? 100% attendance is a goal we strive for but we all have lives outside Rotary (however I'm finding this year it's becoming more focused! ). Dan Gallant has almost 30 years of 100%, as I remember. And those were before electronic make ups. Our members become involved in what we are doing as a club. Community projects, International partnerships, Youth exchange are all active programs within our club. And our members engage to ensure they are successful. That is growth outside the numbers. As I said last week, we need to take the opportunity to talk to our neighbours, colleagues and working networks about what it is to be a Rotarian. We have some little wallet cards to share with people that tell some of the story of Rotary. I usually have one and I have shared them on numerous occasions. It's how we can let not only prospective members know what we do, but helps get the public relations message out. We have a variety of committees within the club. I know chairs would like to have input from others so if there is any area of interest you would like to become involved in please let me or the chair of the committee know. Support our Membership this month and throughout the year
