Shred-a-Thon 2017
Well, what a day !!!! We had a record amount of citizens show up, a record amount of volunteers AND a record amount of money raised. THANK YOU all so much. We are like a well 'oiled' machine !!! No one told anyone what to do or how to do it, it JUST WORKED !!!
AND because we filled the Shredding truck at 11:00 we are so grateful to DAN GALLANT for going to get the Rotary World Help Truck and help us out. It looks like we had over half of that filled too. Thank you to David for going with Dan to drop off the boxes at Best Shredding.
Everyone had a job and did it well. Breaking down the cardboard, Cleone and Yvonne were experts.....and can that Yvonne ever lift boxes !!!! Al S as traffic manager, Dan D, Dan G, Alan K [ and his wife Lisa who brought us cookies, we know we are going to love those two as new members ] Terry, Patty, Vida [who paid for coffee for everyone] Jeannie, Trudy, David were the ones who dumped hundreds of pounds of paper into bins and Gayle who tried to out do me by getting the most amount of donations and I think succeeded !!! Al brought the BIG RIBFEST sign and asked every single car that came by to think about volunteering for RIBFEST and we all gave out cards to remind them to go onto our website. In the meantime Ann was 'pole dancing' in the middle of the round-a-bout. !!! Oh Ann we are going to miss you while you are away on vacation !!!
We say it over and over again, but not only do we live in the BEST City, do we have the BEST Citizens who come out to support us, but we really do have the BEST ROTARY CLUB.
PS to those who had other commitments but dropped by with their shredding [ Brian and Joanna & Eric] thank you. AND to Kerry, Kathy & Dasha [we were all thrilled to meet Al & Kathy's granddaughter ] who came by to say hi. I hope I did not miss anyone. Everyone helps when then can and if they can and that is what makes us STRONG !!
