ImageWe arrived at 6:45am to see 4 people already lined up to receive their 'bag' at 11:30 am

We now know the reason 'why' we donate to Share, 'why' we stand at IGA and Thrifty's asking the public to donate to Share and help fill the truck with food.

Thank you to Terri Towner for giving us a tour of the Share Food Bank Facilities.  On more than one occasion I heard Rotarians 'gasp' at the facts and figures that Terri gave us about the number of families that 'need' these services in our very own community. It would be a struggle for any one of us to 'live on' the food in that bag for 2 weeks.  We were told it is to 'supplement' but seriously, it would be very difficult.

Share is fortunate to have the local grocery stores, Costco etc, to donate bread, fresh vegetables and other items.  One story Teri told us is that a lot of people 'trade' soup for other items.  Soup was something our family has always donated, but from now on it will be pasta, tomato sauce, baby products, soap or shampoo.  Share is grateful for all the items they receive and if they receive a cash donation please know that money will go 2.5 times further.

Another story that Terri told was that a lot of the volunteers at the Food Bank are people who at 'one time' needed that help and now they are 'paying it forward' by giving of their time.

The community gardens have been very generous by giving their produce to the food bank, and next year we may see a slogan "GROW A ROW"

Please give when you can to Share and be very grateful for the life that YOU have.

We also see just how 'comfortable' that the off site meeting is.....I think we all agreed that we should do more 'off site' meetings.  Thank you SHARE !!!Image
