This program is 100% Rotary sponsored, to develop youth leaders - and many of the participants who go through this program and go on to do some amazing things with their lives.

We will expect approximately 60-70 participants, who come from all backgrounds ages 15-17. This will include participants from the Vancouver and Washington USA region. They apply to go to the camp, and almost always leave pretty stoked about life after.

Throughout the weekend we bring in some awesome speakers - which can range from inspiring stories, political ambition, or youth with drive. The whole point is to have them exposed to ideas they might not have been before, and expose them to other points of view (from the other participants) which they might not usually see in their day to day. We'll challenge them with different activities, and make them work for their food. At the end of the day - the experience is invaluable, and something most youth aren't exposed to (or adults for that matter).
We ask that each club contact local schools, youth groups and other organizations to seek candidates in the 10th and 11th grades (ages 15-17). If you have a Youth Exchange student in this age (both outbound and inbound), YAIL would be a great opportunity for him or her.

Deadline for nominations is Friday, December 9 - but the earlier the better as YAIL accepts on a first come basis and the program filled up early last year. The program itself is January 13-15, 2012. The cost to the club is $270 per candidate.
