Peter recapped the SFPP meeting held at his place on Monday night. Many of the basic jobs have been completed or are in the works—licenses, fencing, tickets etc.—now we need to secure sponsorships, door prizes, food vendors, breweries etc. With the expanded space we are using this year we can accommodate 5-6 more breweries, 1-2 more food vendors and 100 more guests. We are printing 600 tickets and feel we will sell out early again .

Alan gave an update on RIBFEST

  • **City council passed their motion confirming we have the same weekend locked in for the next 3 years and most importantly they will support the event with $35,000 per year.
  • Danne reported on behalf of the Kid’s Fun Zone committee they have already signed up their major sponsor and have verbal agreements from several other smaller sponsors from last year.
  • Bill reported on the Recycling piece which is a high visibility item for the City. Thrifty’s will not be able to supply the 210 plus hours this year to man the recycling stations. They will still be supplying the corn for the Rotoacters and will be available to work with them if required. First priority now is to find a group of mature young adults who want to help us make a difference.

Brian thanked everyone who helped out with the “Generous Hearts Food Drive” on Saturday February 11th. We had an outstanding Drive collecting over 30 boxes of food and $985.00 in cash donations. Most of the customers had a big smile on their face when they brought their bags of food to our table for packing—I think everyone who gave got a warm glow from participating.
