 Julia wants to acknowledge Peter’s friend who, while not a Rotarian, unfailingly loans, delivers, and takes away the ladders for the Manor decorating every year

Julia also recognized Peter, Vida and George as “Community Heroes” for their recent efforts.  Peter and Vida for the Manor decorating, and George for the SHARE soliciting at Thrifty’s and IGA [ we sang Happy Birthday to George also]

Dan will come in as a New Member next meeting. Yay!

Darrell has been very busy with his Mental Health efforts at Riverview. A total of 81 new beds are being made available

Guest Speaker: Dave Fracchia, on the State of the Video Game Industry in Canada.  Dave has 30 years   experience in the video game industry.

Dave started in the early days devising computer graphics to represent biological images, then went to Mainframe Entertainment, now Rainmaker.  He made seven Barbie videos, specializing in the sparkles on Barbie’s dresses, and various textures.  This coding is still being used. 

He also worked with Radical Entertainment, working on video games, including Destiny and the new “Millionaire” game, which we had a chance to try with questions about video games:

    Video Games add 2.3 Billion $ to Canada’s GNP

    Canada is 3rd in the world in video game development, after the US and Japan

    There are 329 video game companies in Canada, 67 of which are in BC

Video game development is moving to Montreal, which has the highest direct tax credit.  Total highest credit is in Quebec

16,500 people are working in the video game industry in Canada, 5000 of whom are in BC
