Birthday wishes were passed on to Terry Miller for his St. Patrick’s Day birthday tomorrow and
Meagan on March 18th.

We also acknowledges Brian’s 10th Anniversary with Rotary.

The club also paid tribute and passed a card around for the family of Jill Calder who was killed last week in the freak storm that hit the lower mainland and downed a huge tree on her home in Mountain Meadows area of Port Moody. Jill was the leader of New View Society in Port Coquitlam and recently visited our club to thank has for our donation to her society. She will be deeply missed by all of the
Tri-cities.

Dan spoke and provided an update our our container project as part of Rotary International. He outlined the substantially rising costs of shipping due to the stronger US dollar. The shipping costs to Central America has risen by $2,000 over the passed couple years and has now reached $10,600 for a single container. This years container is going to Belize which will be the third one for our club going to that country. Previous ones have also included the countries of South Africa and the Philippines to name a few. Dan is encouraging all present Rotary members to assist with the loading on Saturday March 26th at 9:00 AM at Riverview.

Peter and Gayle provided an update on `The search for the perfect pint``.  Sales are going well and we are hopeful for another sell-out of about 500 ticket sales. If this is accomplished we should net about $20,000 for our club. An amazing fundraiser for a 3 hour event.

Patty discussed her need for a few vacancies to be filled for her board later this year with one recent one being created by the loss of Scott Massey who has taken on the role as General Manager for the Sagebrush Golf & Country Club in Merritt, BC. We acknowledged the fantastic job that Scott has performed for our club and the big void that has been created and of course wishing him well going forward.

Trudy discussed that our club is prepared to sponsor our Rotarians that are interested in attending the Rotary Learning Institute. In addition announced our board meeting on March 21st, at the Coquitlam Grill and that all Rotarians are welcome to attend. Also all Rotarians need to sign-up online to volunteer for Ribfest 2016.
