Birthdays and Anniversaries:
Happy Birthday to our wonderful Terry M. on March 17,
Meghan L, on March 18 and Gene V. on March 19
..the perfect hat trick of birthdays!!
Rotary Moment: Dan did his usual wonderful presentation of
Rotary history today..focusing further on Presidential
Celebrations..15 celebrations on 15 topics in 15
countries..what an accomplishment! Dan highlighted
the session on the role of the Rotary Foundation and
its important part in supporting the success of the
work of Rotary..especially in the many international
projects. He also commended our Club for the member's
generous contirbutions to the Foundation.

Speaker's Corner: Know Your "Why"!
Today's speaker was our most recent member..and
very accomplished speaker..Gene Vickers. Gene
presented on a topic that every one of us could find
some benefit in..Know Your Why!
As Gene explained it.."knowing your own whys" can
become very instrumental to understanding our values
and our choices and allow us to see why we might be
succeeding or failing in different circumstances.
Gene shared some of his own most important "whys":
family and friends, making a difference in the lives of
others and knowing his own core values..which all
happen to align perfectly with the Rotary 4 Way Test!
Gene illustrated further with an example from his
own life and how knowing what motivated him helped
him make better choices and established patterns that
lead to success in diet and exercise..planning differently
set him up for success with his goals.
He described this knowledge as allowing him to better use
his own personal, internal GPS system to navigate his
motivations and avoid self-defeating choices...."unstranding"
him from old habits and leading him to a better "road" to
success.
He ended by tying back his own core "whys"..and how
they have so recently brought him back to the Rotary
Club of Port Moody.
Somehow, I dont think he was ever that far away!!
