Rotary meeting July 23, 2014

Hi everyone,

It is always a great meeting when we induct a new member.  Bernie Hiller became a member of our club this morning and we are positive that he will be an active member in our club.

 

President Alan spoke about our Board meeting today and announced that we spent more money in that meeting than Jon did all year long !!!!

We have committed to the following:

ER Hospital - $6,000.00 for the Music and Memory program

Mossom Creek - $10,000.00 and have applied for a District Grant to match it

Golfun - $2,000.00 sponsorship

Links to Literacy - Sponsorship for $500.00

 

 

Our guests this week were:  Eric Tham - President of Rotaract, Bernie Hiller - now member, Honorary Member Tom Williams and Guest speaker, Malcolm Kennedy.

 

Malcolm Kennedy came to talk to us about his Nicaragua Project and thank us for our support with this International project.

Malcolm leads a group to Jiquilillo which is a fishing village of 4500 people.  There is now a 'Host Rotary Club' from Chimenetga  that helps support these people as well.  He is leaving on Boxing Day and will be there for 6 weeks.  If anyone is interested in joining him and helping with a build, please contact Malcolm at malcolm.laptop@shaw.ca and you can go on the website to see where they have already helped the people aat www.montysbeachlodge.com
