Member “Attraction”

Without Members there are no clubs, without clubs, there is no Rotary!

Rotary “sells” itself, more you talk about Rotary “grows Rotary”.  You don’t talk about membership in Rotary, but about Rotary and the work we do as Rotarians!

15% of Rotarians (10 years ago) referred at least one new member to a club.

That has dropped to 10% today!!

Action:   Every member commit to bringing one guest every 3 months to a meeting

Remember:   You never propose on the first date!!!

Rotary BAG – “Bring a Guest” program (info on District Website)

Keep a bag in the club and every time a guest is there with a Rotarian, put both names in the bag and draw names every quarter for a “nice” prize for both – gift certificate, etc.

Other tips:

Community Leaders lunch

Classification surveys – where is the hole?

Wallet cards

Solicit past members

Member “Engagement”

35% of New members leave within first two years

That rises to 62% over 5 years….. Rotary has an engagement problem, it has recruited over 1 Million new members in the past 10 years, yet its overall membership is static (or slightly declining)

People Join because of:

Networking

Business opportunities

Fellowship

Service

Membership committee needs at least 4 people (ours has one)

Chair

Attraction/Recruitment

Engagement

New Member support

I-Share Rotary Contest

On District website, but from April 15th to May 15th all district Rotarians can go to District 5050 website and complete survey, this will be fed back to Club and to the District in order to plan for the future!
