New View Society – Tiffany Melius and her Board member Aram Askarian

 

The New View Society is a non-profit organization founded in 1973 to help people with mental illness.  Their motto is “Community Health Through Mental Health”.  They offer

  • young adult transition into society
  • young adult programming (movie night, pitch in kitchen)
  • peer support (wellness recovery action plan, recovery support training)
  • 1:1 staff ratio
  • housing support
  • social recreation programs
  • support employment
  • sports teams/activities (exercise therapy)
  • first aid training.

 

Some of the Society statistics are:

  • 600 members are ministered to yearly
  • staff of 27
  • 20 different programs
  • 9 special member events yearly
  • 40 members attend club house everyday
  • 100 referrals yearly
  • 45 members employed through supported employment social enterprises (Crazy Cookies, Suds in a Bucket)
  • 56 hours/week vocational support t residents
  • 6 residential buildings in Port Coquitlam
  • 51 residents housed
  • 161 are served/month in community living support

At New View Society we understand the challenges our people face in finding meaningful employment. Our Social Enterprises (operated directly through our Clubhouse) provide our members with flexible and inclusive employment in a caring and supported environment.
