Rotary meeting August 5th, 2015

Thank you to President Trudy for notes at this week's meeting.
 
Guests:  Meghan Lahti and Dyanne Wayland, Simin Rahmany,  Sylvia our outbound student and Krista Burnham..hope I did not miss anyone.
 
Birthdays and Anniversaries:  2 Club anniversaries: Mike Poznanski  2 yrs. and Patty Klassen 10 years
 
Announcements:   Peter... We have a Club storage locker now.

                              Frisbee Golf....Aug 23...sign up sheet circulated
                              
                              Linda:  Heritage Mountain Boulevard clean up this coming Saturday...all welcome - please meet us at Gallaghers at 9:00 am ....the more the merrier ;o)
                              Tablecloths:  we have two extra white tablecloths returned from the Rotaract High Tea...any want to claim them
                              Al : LPGA ..Coquitlam Club in need of our support..please help if you can
 
                              Youth Empowerment Evening : August 14th at the Old Mill Boathouse..proceeds to Variety.  Rotaract President Chantal  Broughton & Rotaractor Jordan Yeo amongst the inspiring speakers.
 
Guest Speaker:  Our outbound student, Sylvia gave an excellent presentation. She had a very well organized and informative power point, covering her own family, local community (both Port Moody and the Greater Vancouver area) school and volunteer interests. An amazingly well rounded young lady, her parents were originally from China but she was born in Singapore and came to Canada at age 5.  After her year in France, she will be fluent in 3 languages!
                              We were all in awe of her poise, sense of humour, and great communication skills and know that she will be a great representative for our community and our Club !!!
 
We wish her an outstanding year abroad.

Thanks this week to Al  for hosting the Rib Fest debrief meeting and Cleone for the Community Service Committee meeting.  Both were well attended and had great discussions.  Thanks also to  LInda for working hard to set up a special speaker on Membership for later this month.
