Rotary Meeting August 27th, 2014

Today was a great meeting!!! Great because we inducted a 'new' member to our Rotary Club.
Tom Babbs was a previous member and today was re-inducted. Welcome Tom.....
The few announcements today were as follows:
At the Board meeting it was approved that we go ahead 'in principle' with the Rotary Rib Fest on July 10, 11 & 12th. This will be a FREE Rotary event for the City, will give great exposure to our Rotary Club but it will be a lot of Work !!!! We need to have everyone do their part and this will be a huge success. Thank you to Ian MacPhail and Al Stjernegaard for co-chairing this event.
Also at the Board meeting we approved $5000.00 for Days for Girls and $350.00 for 6 months fees for the Rotaract meeting place.
We have also approved that the Rotary Club of Port Moody 'Adopt a Block'. We have adopted Heritage Mountain Blvd. from Ioco to David and Peter Cuthbert will do a schedule for once a month clean up. Thank you Peter for volunteering for that. We know that Scott will use this time as training for his next Triathon while he runs up and down the hill !!! Adopting this Block will be great exposure for the Rotary Club of Port Moody as the City will give us 8 signs. Thanks to everyone for your support.
Please mark your calendars for October 1st meeting, will be at the new Port Moody Firehall. and on September 27th is the Rotary RIPS.....sign up with Cleone.
Peter also has a Rotary Store started where you can buy your Rotary Pins, decals, shirts etc.!!! Again thank you Peter for heading this up.
Gaetan asked for volunteers for the Cashiers and Gary said he would do the schedule. Hmmm I think he is thinking about that.!!!
We had a guest this week, Lisa Park.
We did not have a guest speaker this morning so our very own Darrell Burnham lead us in some Rotary Trivia. We all learned a lot about Rotary this morning and was great fun. Thanks Darrell.
