What happens when there is a "hole' in our usually perfect flow of guest speakers?
What happens when there is a "hole' in our usually perfect flow of guest speakers?  Well, our wonderful "Program Organizer"  Darrell Burnham puts together an inovative, interactive  and interesting exercise for us all to enjoy! We got our first clue that something would be a bit out of the ordinary this morning when he asked us all to write down our names and put them in "the hat".

Darrell had two different plans for us..the first one was bit of break from Rotary tradition and the second one was about members knowledge of Rotary.

Part one...Free advertising!!  Darrell pulled a few names from his hat and members had an opportunity to advertise something about their business..Ian was able to talk about interest rates, Alan about giving back to the Club when referrals happen, Isabella about a great trip she will soon be hosting, John about his new business venture that will help secure food supplies and semi retired Keith spoke about his Club work..our newly formed PR committee.  Rotary was founded on networking and although our mission has evolved  with a different focus...it is still understandable that Rotarians would be inclined to do business with fellow Rotarians.  Maybe we should continue this until everyone has their "advertising" minute?

Part two..Rotary knowledge..a spot quiz....would you know the answers?  How many Rotarians are there world wide?  What is our rate of lost members and our rate of new members in RI over the last decade?  What does NID stand for?  (Remember..our RI website and your monthly Rotarian magazines are excellant sources of info and really reflect the scope of RI activities around the world!  There is always something new we can learn!)

Darrell finished up the allowed time with a brainstorming session with the group .. about ideas for future Speaker's Corner guest/topics.  Suggestions were plentiful and far ranging..every from a local Vancouver Canuck's scout to a visit to New View...and lots in between.  Great work Darrell and thanks from us all for all your efforts in making our meetings interesting and enjoyable every week.
