........Operation Red Nose,.........

Our Guest Speaker was Chris Wilson.  Chris belongs to the Coquitlam Sunrise Club.  He was with us to talk about

Operation Red Nose, and how the project it benefits, KidSport.

Operation Red Nose offers free rides home after holiday parties, in an effort to keep drunks off the roads and have fewer accidents.

The National organization started in 2003, and the local Chapter started in 2006.   Last year they gave 382 rides, and raised $11,000. In donations.  This year they expect to do about 500 rides.

Last year there were 95 volunteers, and they need more this year.  Volunteers are expecially needed for New Yeears’ Eve.  It is the time when demand is heaviest, yet volunteers are short.

To apply to be a volunteer talk with Dan Gallant.  There is a form and a records check.

Chris then talked about his career as a wrestler, and how the lessons learned in taking part in a sport have helped him in his life.  This leads us to Kidsport, which pays fees for children who cannot afford the registration fees for children’s sports programs.  All proceeds from Operation Red Nose are kept here in the  local communities, and given to KidSport.
