Rotary: Gene Vickers is BACK

What a treat to hear a "Chapter two" version of very our own Gene Vicker's classification talk.  For those of you who had the delight of hearing Gene's first classification talk, you will remember the very poignant telling of how Gene's father passed away shortly before he was born and how Gene and family had never given up remembering him. Through that story, Gene's deep understanding of the inmportance of family connections was obvious.

  Gene's message today continues to be one of the importance of our families and how  we have choices to make in life ..choices that affect  not only ourselves  but also the ones we love.

  We are so happy to have Gene back with us and to find him wearing a familiar blue badge .. an active member again...instead of his recently acquired red one..as an honorary club member.  It was great to hear of some of the new developments in his life..recents gains ( a new job as Sales Manager at Meridian RV) and also losses (few unwanted pounds)!  

  In a way, the losses and gains are related. Gene was feeling the need for new challenges in his work life and making a decision to leave a company where he had strong ties and take a leap of faith into the unknown  was not an easy one.  It was based in large part by deep desire to be a happier and healthier person for his family. 

 Gene and Heather have for grown children, one son and 3 daughters. As they see their own children getting married and having children .. they are soon to be first time grandparents (congratulations!!)..he knew that the best gift he could give them would be to be around for them for a very long time and to be inpositive place in his own life.  It is great to see him looking so fit and happy!

And, we at Rotary are also very happy to have him back with us....we also hope for a very long time to come!
