When I left work on last Monday nightâ?¦I saw a pretty wonderful thing happening........
When I left work on last Monday nightâ?¦I saw a pretty wonderful thing happening. I saw Peter sitting in the lovely foyer of the Manor, surrounded by a semi circle of 9 of our Residents. That group included a retired architect and community volunteer, a former mayor and a whole bunch of wonderful moms and grandmothersâ?¦some of our brighter and more social residents. Usually at this time of night, they would have finished dinner and be off in their roomsâ?¦basically passing time until bedtime..so it was pretty neat to see them all socializing and connecting with Peter..who was doing a fabulous job of reading and interacting with them. The next day..all of them were so positive about the time they spent with himâ?¦.I heard it was the talk of the town on the bus outing! It really helped to lift the spirits for those who attended. I know how busy everyone isâ?¦.Rotarians must be among the busiest people on earth and it is not my intention to pressure anyone. But if you have already been thinking about whether or not this might be a fit for you..please don't hesitate to see Dale or myself for more info. And, I am sure Peter would also fill you in on his experience..after all, he is our current expert! I know the orientation may be a bit off putting. This requirement arose, because, there is not a recreation therapist on site at that time of night..to oversee the activity, or assist with it and so we needed to ensure some basic safety information for everyone. I know Dale is working with the Manager of Volunteers to try to find a time that is convenient for all for another orientation session. Wearing my Manor "hat" again for a moment..I just want to again thank everyone for all the Club does for the Manor. You bring so much to our Residents in so many ways and we are so very lucky to have your support and care.
