Rick & Bill are the top fundraisers for the Polar Plunge:
It was 6c and felt like a wall hit you when you went in
Rick handed out a toques & a water bottles from the Port Moody Police. We had initial target at $1,000 and now at $3,500 with more to come.  Please contribute before the 5 March. Thanks Ian for organising the team.

Ian's letter to all:

POLAR PLUNGE for SPECIAL OLYMPICS

Hello hello...many many thanks to all that participated and supported this event.

We are so often pioneering our own events for the community, so it was a real pleasure to support Law Enforcement's Torch Run annual effort for the Special Olympics. We all have our causes to support and this one is theirs...and a worth while one at that. Hats off to Staff Sargeant Fraser Renard of the PMPD for spear heading the event in our neck of the woods.

Our club set a goal of modest gol of $1,000 with a small band of "swimmers"..perhaps a better word is "dippers"....but in any event the team of Rotary Octopi - Freezing for a Reason - Bill, Rick, Paul, Clayton, Trish, Ian, Susan, Lee & Glen did the dirty deed to help raise some hard earned sheckles for Special "O"..nice!

Well done to Rick, Bill and Paul who led the group in funds raised - our final tally was $4,017 - 4 x our goal. In all 24,500 was raised through PMPDs efforts. Thanks also to Clayton for providing our costume props - earned us the "best dressed" team.

I have to say it was a lot of fun and worth supporting PMPD again next year as well.

Hasta pronto,

Ian MacPhail
