Gary was back and in great voice...

RIBFEST meeting – Jan 24.  Frank updated us on the overview of RIBFEST.  Much planning is already underway.  For more details contact Frank.  He also sent out an email to the club along with a powerpoint of the high level information.

Valentines – A great meeting was had on Friday to make Valentines for the Manor.  We made 50 Valentines!  There is also a drop box at the Well to drop some off, if you can’t make it to any of the virtual event.

Kenya Connect Glen updated us on fundraising efforts for a 5k run or walk which will be March 26, 9am, or anytime throughout the next day.  The race is virtual with people from around the world, and you get a participation hat.  Glen will have more details and send it out to the club to participate.

Thifty’s Stamps – if you shop at Thrifty’s, collect the stamps and give them to Vida.  The stamps will all go towards household items that will then be donated to Bea's Kloset on March 10.  Bea's Kloset is a Soroptimist “free store” for young women in transition.

We are back at the Well next Wednesday!  $16 plated breakfast.  Please reply to Susan’s email and provide your breakfast order.  We need 20 people there....

Mike B updated us on our donations to the school in Grahamstown – the washrooms they used to have there were utterly atrocious.  Now the school has multiple clean, bright, and new washrooms, along with rainwater collection and washing stations for lunch dishes.

There was no guest speaker today but we had a great time sharing our happy bucks and updating everyone on what we’re all up to!

Do Large Grants Ever Take Place in North America?

Yes! Rotary global grants can have large projects, scholarships, and vocational teams all here in the US or in Canada…or in any Rotary region.  One of the most amazing aspects of The Rotary Foundation is that there are opportunities for large projects wherever there is need. Criteria must be met, but there have been and will continue to be large-scale projects in “developed” countries. Read about how a Rotary Foundation global grant made a big difference in Detroit, Michigan during the onset of the pandemic. The international sponsor was in India. You can view the article here.
