Rotary Week is officially set for February 18th to Feb.23rd.......
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE Last Wednesday morning's weather was very bad and I did not think we would have very many Rotarians turning up, considering the snow and icy conditions. What a pleasant surprise! 15 of you braved the conditions and attended a somewhat different structured meeting. Our guest speaker, Steve Gable was unfortunately sick and we hope he gets better soon. I know a lot of you were looking forward to his speech of the "Bike Ambulance Project", in Namibia. Hopefully our excellent program chair, (Gayle), can rebook him? Rotary Week is officially set for February 18th to Feb.23rd. And as promised, I am able to up-date you on the meeting, which was held last Thursday, with my fellow Rotary Tri-cities Presidents. We had applied to hold it at Coquitlam Centre for Friday, Feb 22.+ Saturday, Feb. 23rd. Unfortunately the booth for non-profit members was booked and they did not know if we would be allowed to set-up some where else within the Mall. So I went to the management office to see if I could plead our case and get "Morguard" to give us permission. I am please to say the "face to face" meeting went of well and Morguard Investments, (Coquitlam Mall) have granted a space for us in the Mall. So the plan is to have the four Rotary Clubs set up their displays on Friday morning and for one member from each club to promote Rotary to the public. It is amazing to me that allot of people still do not know what Rotary is about, which is why this is such a good opportunity to tell people the good works that Rotary accomplishes, all over the world. I will be asking for volunteers to work a 2-hour shifts from Friday morning to Saturday, late afternoon and for someone to step up and decide what "stuff" we display? Again I realize that many of you have to work so please do not feel embarrassed if you are not able to volunteer on this occasion. I will bring a sign-up sheet showing the shift times and dates, for our next meeting. Peter????.ROTARY SHARES??????#23 FEB. 2ND. 2008
