Donating Blood, what could be more unselfish than that!
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE Since I became President, one of my aims was to make our Club more visible in the community and yesterday was a great example of that. Donating Blood, what could be more unselfish than that! Big thanks go to Gene Vickers, Brian Dunne, Cleone Todgham, Chris Aconley and Renae Aconley, myself and Jim Mcgrandles, (who is the official greeter of the Canadian Blood Services), Orland Lee who took the photos of us all, and *Linda and George Balzer* *I would like to commend Linda and George, as this was their first time! Linda has to be singled out, as she was very, very nervous, so it obviously takes a lot of courage to get over this and still be a willing donor! But as it turned out, because Linda & George were in Turkey this year they were denied until next year for giving blood. (Any country that reports even one case of Malaria is listed as a no go for giving blood). Even with this fact 10 Rotarians turned up, 6 gave blood, 2 worked, and two are on stand-by! So that means, we potentially saved 18 lives and "showed the flag" as well! Bike Project is well under budget and in good hands with Jon Dominy as Community Service Director. Caps have repaired all the necessary parts for the eleven bikes and their bill was just over $220.00! Well below our budget! Caps donated several hours of labour as a willing and contributing partner for this project and our Club. Thank you to President Elect Keith Vernon, who will be laying a wreath, at the legion on Remembrance Day on behalf of our Rotary Club. Please come out and show your support for him and, of course to the many lives that were lost in the World Wars. Peter???????ROTARY SHARES?..#16?? Nov 9th. 2007
