President's message #12

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE Yesterday, (Saturday morning), Dan Gallant, Jim McGrandles, Ann Hulbert and myself where up at Riverview helping load a container due for Indonesia. The number of Rotarians there pleasantly surprised me. They were from Langley, White Rock, Delta, Vancouver and of course our four from Port Moody. The atmosphere was very positive and friendly, making the work go quickly and efficiently. "Hats off" to Dan Gallant who played a huge role in not only helping to organize the work, but spent the entire day on Friday, picking up donated hospital equipment and furniture. Kudos go out to Steve Gable, who through his networking and energy acquired a small container load of brand new office supplies, which will be going to South Africa! Not only was Steve involved in this, he is also championing a project for Innervisions, acquiring used furniture for them. Apparently Steve's driveway is "chock a block"!? Way to go Steve! The Blood Donor Project is off and running. We have 8 members signed up c/w husbands and wives making a total of 10! This is to happen, Thursday, November 8th. Between 3:00 and 3; 20PM. I would like to get some more members involved, so if you can spare the time and blood, please put your names forward. I have invited Candace Asconi, from the " Blood Donor Clinics", to come and gives us a brief talk at one of our meetings in the very near future. Reading the local papers over the weekend, I noticed the article from "Share" about how they desperately need more donated food item I have an idea�?�.. How about setting up our table and Banner out side one of the local Supermarkets, one Saturday morning, to help collect food from the public and also make our Rotary Club more visible in our community. Maybe we could collectively put our heads together on this idea, so we come up with a viable plan of action? (We would obviously need permission from the store to make this work).
